In this position you will be legally responsible for managing our 12 plants (7.500 employees) in EMEA. Our plants are based in Germany, France, Italy, Austria, Serbia, Turkey, UK and Spain. In this position you will report into the Senior VP Global Manufacturing & Supply Chain.


Your goal is to achieve company objectives through on-time product delivery at the right quality, capacity and cost. Lead International cross functional management and development of the plants through efficient and effective employee management, organization, technology, planning, controlling, work processes and deployment of lean six sigma in full compliance with regulations, laws and Fresenius Medical Care corporate standards.

Tasks

Strategy Roll Out

  • Establish a world-class manufacturing operational environment in the EMEA region.
  • Establish strategic objectives and implementation plans for the EMEA sites, allocate appropriate resources and ensure successful implementation through sufficient progress monitoring and take appropriate actions when needed.

Continuous Improvement and Transition

  • Lead continuous evaluation of current state, development of a sustainable strategy and implementation of the strategy for the plants, influence cross functional stakeholders and bring the strategic plan to approval from direct superior
  • Drive necessary reorganization and restructuring initiatives aiming for the most effective organizational structures and effectively manage transitions.

Operations

  • Translate Global Manufacturing & Supply Chain vision/mission into feasible, quantitative plans for the EMEA region.
  • Review and monitor the performance of the EMEA sites regarding established site targets and react accordingly to ensure targeted performance
  • Actively manage capacity utilization, capacity investments and delivery performance to ensure optimized cost of production, capital efficiency and on time delivery. Continuously improve results of the working capital through optimization of inventories.
  • Actively manage cost development of the sites in order to achieve the ambition of “equal to lower cost of production” year-over-year. Active ownership for the establishment of budgets and forecasts, frequent monitoring for financial performance. Proactively identify cost saving opportunities and contingency plans and drive timely execution.
  • Drive financial KPI measured performance of all aspects of operations and ensures efficient utilization of resources and reduction of costs.
  • Ensure that all operations are performed in accordance with local legislation and corporate governance requirements

Leadership

  • Lead cross functional interaction with Care Enablement verticals and value streams in order to ensure alignment of direction and coordinated implementation of the strategy in the EMEA sites.
  • Provide leadership to plant managers and their local challenges in the respective geographical area.
  • Is responsible for the development and maintenance of effective and motivated team for all leadership positions.
  • Cooperate with Manufacturing & Supply Chain HR Leadership to provide a consistent work environment while respecting and following local norms and practices.
  • Get personally involved in sourcing, selecting, developing, and retaining top talent for key positions after assessing the current team’s strengths, weaknesses, and styles. Builds a strong succession pipeline for plant managers and own role.

Skills and Work Experience

  • Technical or scientific university degree.
  • Long term extensive experience in a regional leadership position within a Medical Device/Pharma/Healthcare manufacturing environment.
  • Strong track record in restructuring, reorganizing and cost cutting programs in Manufacturing.
  • Preferably experience with manufacturing outsourcing/offshoring.
  • Experience with Regional multi-site P&L, budget and forecasting management.
  • Additional experience in logistics and supply chain would be beneficial.

Leadership Experience

  • Experience in managing international cross functional management teams.
  • Skilled in building effective teams and manage internal and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent in setting clear directions for others in times of uncertainty, change and transformation. Track record in guiding plant directors through global manufacturing transformations.
  • Strong in mobilizing and coaching others to initiate and drive change.
